Westwood's Preschool is a faith-based preschool that is part of Westwood Community Church's efforts to serve both our congregation and our community.
 
Our purpose is to provide opportunities for children to grow physically, relationally, cognitively and spiritually through our caring staff and well-designed programs. We also seek to nurture children's  experience of God's love and grace by teaching and modeling Christian values. 
 
We believe 
     Every child is a gift from God.
     Play is the primary vehicle for learning.
     Learning is an interactive process.
     In incorporating a spirit of co-operation, not competition.
     Each day is a treasure as it brings us closer together and closer to God.

The Benefits of Our Staff and Program

Teacher to Student ratio of 1 to 8 (1 lead teacher and 1 assistant with 16 students). This is a lower ratio than most preschools in the area, ensuring that students receive the individual attention they need in a safe and healthy learning environment.

Developmentally-appropriate practices are the foundation of our curriculum. We utilize state and national standards, along with current research on best practice to plan and implement programming.

Faith-based, we build on the foundation of the kids being known and loved first by God. It is a wonderful atmosphere in which to begin their journey of developing a personal relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Our Preschool Staff are trained and qualified by state standards and are also members of Westwood Community Church. Their passion is to nurture children socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually.

Our facility was built in 2003 with the Preschool in mind. Our classrooms are bright and cheery, well-equipped and are supplemented by a large motor room and a state of the art, fenced playground.


Ready for preschool?

Here are a few things to consider when deciding if your child is ready for preschool.
  • Uses the restroom consistently and independently
  • Able to safely navigate stairs
  • Able to communicate needs to teachers
  • Able to follow basic directions
  • Comfortable separating from family

Preschool Program Overview
 
Two-day Program
For children 3 - 5 years old
Monday and Wednesday
9:00-11:30am or 12:30-3:00pm
Cost:  $118 per month (9 payments)
                              
Three-day Program
For children 3 - 5 years old
Monday, Wednesday, Friday
9:00-11:30am or 12:30-3:00pm
Cost:  $168 per month (9 payments)
 
Four-day Program
For children 4 - 5 years old
(pre-kindergarten year students only)
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday
9:00-11:30am  or 12:30-3:00pm
Cost: $218 per month (9 payments)
 
Additional fees: 
$50 registration fee (non-refundable.)  This is due beginning in January when registering for the upcoming preschool year.
 
$30 activity/material fee  This includes a custom designed preschool bag which all of the children should use as part of our color-coded safety system.  It also covers costs associated with special programs, events, and limited field trips. This is due July 1 along with the first month's tuition for the upcoming year.
 
 
 
Westwood Preschool is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services to meet the needs of children ages 3 to 5. Children must be 33 months by September 1st and toilet trained in order to enroll. We serve children of all races and religious affiliations.
